Hope Summit 2014

photo-102In a few days I’ll be catching a flight to DC.  I’m heading to the LUNGevity DC Hope Summit.

This will be my second year for the event.  I had a nice time in 2013, but I was still suffering the effects of WBR.  I’m looking forward to going this year with a healthier body and hair on my head!

I’m most excited to connect with others living with lung cancer, hearing Dr Julie Brahmer speak, and see the fantastic Ms Katie Brown.

I’m a little nervous about getting through security with a cooler since my drugs require refrigeration.  But, I’m very excited to use my TSA friendly backpack so I no longer need to pull out my laptop.

Taking refrigerated drugs has always been a bit of a pain for me. I usually ask for a hand check but see if your drugs can go through the scanner as that will make it a bit easier. I have been patted down every time I’ve done it. Looking forward to seeing you at Hope Summit!

      You’re going…wonderful!
I opt for the hand search for my drugs too. It has not lead to the pat-down but I won’t be surprised if that happens this time. I’ll let you know how it goes… 🙂

  2. Yay! I will be there, I hope I get to meet you! I’ve been reading your blogs. My name is Kimberly Lester. My mom is a survivor, and we started a small non-profit. Here’s me: facebook.com/kimberlydlester I’ll be looking for you! 🙂

      Hi Kimberly,

Shoot! I’m not on Facebook so I can’t see your link. 😦

But, be sure to track me down at the Summit! I’m pretty easy to spot…most often caught laughing and I have some short shiny curls on my head. Or, if it is chilly I wear a pink hat.
