Days ago I met with reporter Jillian Daley. She was working on an OHSU Knight Cancer Institute article. The article would be included in all Pamplin Media Group owned papers which covers a pretty big swath of Oregon.
Today, the article was published in the Portland Tribune. It can be found HERE. (Thank you Rachel!)
I do feel the need to clarify on a topic that I stay miles away from: smoking. The article states that I’m a never smoker. My 16 closest girlfriends know that is not true. I did, indeed, smoke a cigarette at my bachelorette party. I am a not a never smoker.
I found it!!! Top right corner- there is a light blue flag that says visit our specials section (red rectangle). Great article!
Nice find!
You’re like George Washington or something…cannot tell a lie. I love it!! 😉
Yes, just like George! xoxo
If nothing else, maybe you can scan and upload for us? I know a celebrity now!
I’ve now got the link on the post. My savvy sister-in-law found it online. 🙂
Great article! And aren’t you looking every bit like the star I know you are. Love, Paula
Really? I thought the photo’s were terrible. I’m used to SW who is great at portraiture and photo shop. 😉
Loved the article! It made me laugh and cry! And you are the biggest non-smoker I have ever met my dear!
Tears? That’s not good… xo
Actually, your never-smoking status is safe. Definition is less than 100 cigs over a lifetime. Ha!
Never isn’t never? I’m so confused.
Great article! (and I thought you looked great in the pics)
Thanks! I’m still grumbly about them…
Excellent article … thanks for stepping forward for lung cancer awareness … smoking is a media stigma they need to demonize us … ignore them and survive!!!
The smoking thing is annoying to me. I do think many are simply uninformed and think lung cancer always means the person was a 2-pack a day smoker. Not so.
We’ve got the article posted proudly up here on the 11th floor! Nice work Kim!
Hi Jillian – I’m really interested in your blog, great article! Just to clarify, a “Never Smoker” is an epidemiological definition meaning someone who’s smoked less than 100 cigarettes in their lifetime. So technically, you ARE a never-smoker, if the only time you smoked was at your bachelorette party.
My mom found out yesterday that her Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer is Type III and non-operable. I stumbled across you through a retweet on twitter… and I subscribed!
Hi Research Girl,
I’m sorry to hear about your moms diagnosis. So sad.
The whole smoking thing is a sore spot for me. It always makes me want to scream, “What does it matter?”
Kim
