This morning in bed before the 7:00 am alarm went off I was awake but not stirring. “Kimmy?” SW said to me, “your breathing sounds really good.” “Uh-huh,” I replied to end the conversation.
He was right. My breathing was fine. I was laying completely horizontal, on my right side, a position that usually generates an array of crackles and pops with each inhale and exhale.
I began to breathe deeper and deeper. I felt the oxygen filling my lungs entirely and sending energy to the tips of my fingers and toes. The only sound I heard was air moving. No crackles, no wheezing, no urge to clear my throat.
It did not last long. But for a few minutes I was successfully living in the moment. That amazing, perfect moment.
