An extremely tender part of my body is my throat. Between the chemo, radiation, bronchoscopy, and ulceration that I’ve talked about on this blog it is pretty much shot. To this day I still have difficulty swallowing.
Last Saturday at 3:00 am I had a flashback to the pain I experienced over a year ago when I was in chemo and radiation. I woke to a constant severe pain that resonated through my chest and up to my right ear. I was panicked. What is going on? I’ve done nothing to cause this! The big to-do was to get the pain managed, then figure out the cause.
I started with Tylenol and a heating pad. The Tylenol was no good; 4-hours later I took a 500 mg vicodin with lots of warm water and a scrambled egg. The upside to this situation is from past experience I knew exactly what food and beverages I could take in.
By about 3:00 pm on Saturday things got somewhat under control. The only cause I can come up with was some late Friday night digestion issues.
Still today, I’m eating and drinking a light menu that leaves me a little dissatisfied. Soup is good as long as it is not too thick and water is nice as long as it is not too cold. I’m looking forward to a full recovery- before the grapes in my refrigerator go bad would be a bonus!
