Having this backyard project is a wonderful distraction from cancer. It is causing some stress but overall I love it.
The concrete paving work is done. And looking spiffy!
The concrete fire pit will be crafted this weekend by the same contractor, Mike. I am very happy to have hired him for many reasons, one in particular is that he enjoys making great artistic polished concrete pieces. It will be a one of a kind beauty with sprinkles of shimmering glass in the surface. Delivery is scheduled for next week.
Now I’m waiting for the steel guy to fabricate a handful of planter boxes and landscape edging. That’s taking a bit longer than expected but I’ll do my best to wait…patiently.
Waiting around is not entirely wasted time. Last night I got fitted for a bench by my carpenter, Wayne. A “J” shaped bench will be constructed around the fire pit.
This project has been made possible after cashing out one of my retirement accounts. What a great choice that was. Now, if SW out lives me, he will have a beautiful backyard to always remember me by. The value of this memory and beautiful space is far greater than the cash in the bank account. (Seriously, how many times in a person’s life do they get fitted for their furniture? What a luxury!)
That’s so COOL!!!
Very! 🙂
It looks beautiful! I also have terminal lung cancer and for my birthday, yesterday, I received a beautiful water feature for our courtyard and it looks beautiful too!
A water feature? I’m jealous! That is one thing that still needs to be added into my back yard. I’m struggling with finding one that make me say wow and in my price range. Any tips? I’d love to hear them…
I love the concrete look and design, looking forward to posts of the progress.
I’ll be sure to keep you and others updated.
Wow. This is really turning out fantastic!
Thank you. I admit, I wanted all different size poured in place concrete pavers but the layout is all my fantastic designers work! Mellisa has great style and she’s NICE!
