Life has a way of showing us that we are not in total control. For many, it is not as severe as a cancer diagnosis. Simply the electricity flickering off and resetting the alarm clock on a work night can be enough of a reminder.
Lately my life has felt too out of control. My go-to way to get control back is to clean and organize! It’s crazy I know, but for me it is a display of ultimate control. I say what chocolate chips get tossed from the pantry. I say where the potting soil will be stored in the garage. I say… I say… I say… Finally, I get to be Dictator Kim.
Labor Day weekend is when it all went down. Now the garage is sorted. Kitchen cupboards are rid of out-of-date food. Auto is sparkling. Closet is filled with clothes I wear. All of this accomplished and the only price to pay was a completely restful Tuesday. Not bad at all.
Exerting some control, even over tiny things, brought an acceptable balance back into my life. I may not have all the say, but I do have some.
Ha! I too labored over labor day, and share your desire to exert control where control can in fact be exerted! Tidy rules!

Indeed!
She also made cookies, which was really nice.
…and you’ll get more soon my love.
You were always “more than tidy” – now that you are demanding and tidy, will you come to my house?
I am so sorry to hear about Kurt.
Sure! You do understand that most things will end up with color coded labels though. Sort of like my old work-work. 🙂
Ever so happy to meet you, Kim. Not happy about the circumstances that give us common ground though. Strive on Lung Warrior. **blows kisses** Deborah
