Kim started to feel sub-par Wednesday night/Thursday morning and got worse on Friday. Saturday morning she was running a fever and her temperature was 101, which for cancer patients means call the advice nurse. After 35 minutes on hold, she spoke to the nurse and was then called by the oncologist on call who asked her to go to the emergency room. That was Saturday around 1 p.m. and after getting a couple bags of IV fluids, a chest X-ray and every blood test known to man (I swear they took 8 vials of blood) they told us Kim has pneumonia.
She got admitted to the hospital (Kaiser Sunnyside) and has spent Saturday & Sunday night here. It is Monday morning and chances are very good that she’ll be here tonight as well.
The staff is taking very good care of her and she has been able to drink water and keep that down, but hasn’t eaten much in the way of solid foods. So even though her first round of treatment has been finished for three and a half weeks, Kim isn’t out of the woods yet.
Thanks for your thoughts, prayers, good vibes and/or mojo in whatever form you prefer to send it.
